Center for Social Accountability for Addressing Urban and Rural Poverty ( CSAP) – Bhopal
Stationed in Bhopal, the thematic center works on the issues of governance of various development programmes to understand the implementation challenges due to inadequate capacities or weak systems and procedures. The center aims to build demand for the programmes by participatory planning and implementation, community monitoring and introduce constitutionally mandated instruments of social accountability like social audit etc.
The institutions of local governance in rural and urban areas are the backbone of grassroots democracy, therefore, the center aims to strengthen capacities of the institutions through evidence generation on the ground and sharing learning with the policy making institutions from the perspective of the poor and marginalized. The center will also work to enhance capacities of development professionals on the social accountability and participatory development.
